Prostitution and Solicitation

Prostitution and solicitation offenses apply to anyone who solicits, agrees to participate or actually does participate in any "lewd act between persons for money or other consideration," and is a misdemeanor which can carry suspension of driving privileges in addition to jail time. Also, "pandering" or "pimping" is a felony

While enforcement efforts in this area have traditionally focused on prostitutes, increasingly law enforcement is focusing on customers or “johns” as well. Frequently, undercover police use craigslist and other internet postings to “sting” for prostitution crimes.

With all cases that involve “sting operations,” there are often procedural issues relating to search, seizure, probable cause for the arrest and entrapment. You will need a skilled attorney to argue these issues. Also, if you are accused of a solicitation crime, there are many first time offender programs and alternative sentencing opportunities that an attorney can negotiate on your behalf.
