Robbery

Robbery is the taking of the personal property of another, in that persons presence, or anywhere in his or her vicinity, by force or threat of force to the victim, victim’s family, or someone in the victim’s presence, with the intent to permanently deprive that person of the property.

Robbery can be charged in various degrees depending on whether the person accused of robbery acts in concert with others, and where the robbery takes place. All degrees of robbery are felonies and are punishable by up to nine years in state prison.  Whats worse, Robbery is also charged as a "strike" for the purposes of California's "Three Strikes" laws. Finally, if it is alleged that you were armed or actually used a firearm to effectuate the robbery, there are substantial enhancements that the prosecutor can charge you with, which can lead to significantly longer prison sentences.

It is essential to retain experienced attorneys who can fully explore the facts of your case, and obtain all of the relevant evidence to defend you. It is critical to obtain witness statements and determine the credibility and the strengths of their likely testimony. Additionally, it is important to evaluate if any other evidence, such as video recordings and/or physical evidence exits.
